Big Milestones: Marriage, a Baby, and Moving to Vegas
Back in 2024, I was still living in San Diego.. At the time, I was engaged and trying to figure out the best path forward. To be closer to my fiance, I made the big decision to move to Las Vegas.
Since then, life has moved fast! We officially got married and welcomed a beautiful baby into our family. I also went back to school online to finish up my bachelor's degree. We recently moved out of the in-laws' place and into our very own townhouse, which feels amazing.
The Military Pilot Journey: Shifts and Testing
On the professional side, my aviation journey took a turn. I earned my commercial multi-engine pilot license, but civilian flight school was getting way too expensive. Because of that, I decided to step away from the civilian Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) route and focus entirely on a military path.
Right now, I am looking closely at becoming a drone pilot in the military. To get ready, I recently took two massive military aviation tests: the AFOQT (Air Force Officer Qualifying Test) and the TBAS (Test of Basic Aviation Skills). Applications for the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves open soon, and I am submitting my packets this summer.
Buying a Home with a VA Loan (Zero Down!)
One of the best pieces of news I can share is about our new home. Even though national interest rates have been hovering around 6% to 6.5%, we secured a 4.87% rate. How did we do it? We used a VA loan, which is an incredible benefit for service members.
We bought a great townhouse with zero down payment. Thanks to some smart negotiating, the seller paid for the closing costs and the agent commissions. I literally walked into closing with only $1,500 out of pocket. If you are a veteran or active duty, you need to know how to use these benefits!
What is Next for the Channel?
Currently, I am away for military work and staying in a hotel room. This quiet time gives me the perfect chance to jump right back into making content. I am working hard to revamp my website and write regular blog posts to match my upcoming videos.
