My story

Updated: May 31

College:

I started with my aviation pursuit in 2010 after graduating high-school. I graduated with an Associate's in Aviation management. My ultimate goal was to become an air traffic controller.

Air Force:

During my time in college I got to work for TSA at Houston Intercontinental Airport. During this time I got to meet a lot of veterans. I was looking for a way to pay for college to keep pursuing ATC. I ended talking to several recruiters and I applied to the Air Force. The recruited did not have any ATC jobs the month I wanted to join, but he did offer me a medical job (Cardiopulmonary Laboratory Technician, 4H). After looking into it I decided to join as a 4H.

I shipped to boot camp in Feb 2014 and finished tech school late 2015. Afterwards I decided to focus in this career and got a spot in a Critical Care Air Transport Team (CCATT).

I deployed in 2019 and 2020. During my deployments with CCATT, I got to meet a lot of pilots and spend time around the aircrews. I sparked my interest in becoming a pilot. I was 29 at the time and had to make a decision to keep going active duty or leave and become a Reservist.

I joined the Guard in Florida and later the Reserves in California.

Flight Training:

Once I left active duty in 2021 I started flight training. I started in the Eglin Air Force Base Aero Club in Florida. I realized that it did not meet my needs and started looking for a more robust program to get me to my goals. I found the Aviate cadet program from United and I realized that other airlines must have programs as well. I found the American Airlines Cadet program that was VA approved and decided to apply. I joined the program in Jan 2023 and as of now I have gotten my Private Pilot License, Instrument rating, Commercial rating, and Multi-engine rating.

Thank you for reading and I will be updating the post as time goes on.
